Self Care
About The Event
Alhamdulillah, we were blessed with a transformative session featuring Sister Farah Saleem from Dubai, a certified Islamic coach who offered invaluable guidance on self-care from an Islamic perspective. Her talk reminded us that self-care is not a luxury or indulgence, but a necessary part of living a balanced, spiritually enriched life.
Sister Farah outlined seven essential ingredients of self-care, each deeply rooted in the teachings of Islam. From nourishing our bodies, minds, and hearts to ensuring we get proper rest, every point emphasized the importance of holistic well-being. She encouraged us to move regularly, take mental breaks, and pursue knowledge—all acts that strengthen not just our physical state, but our emotional and spiritual resilience as well.
Importantly, she reminded us that seeking help and speaking to someone when we feel overwhelmed is not a sign of weakness, but a courageous step toward healing. Just as the Prophet ﷺ leaned on his companions during difficult times, we too are encouraged to embrace support and community.
In her closing reflection, Sister Farah beautifully connected self-care to spirituality—reminding us that caring for ourselves with sincerity and good intention can be an act of worship. This session was a timely reminder that Islam calls us to live with purpose, compassion, and balance, beginning with how we care for ourselves.
